Before configuring the wireless router, you must connect the PC to the wireless router with a network cable. The other end of the network cable should be connected to the LAN port of the wireless router. After the physical connection is installed, in order to configure the wireless router, you must also know two parameters, one is the username and password of the wireless router; the other parameter is the management IP of the wireless router. The default management IP of the TP-LINKWR641G wireless router is 192.168.1.1, and the username and password are both admin.
To configure a wireless router, you must have the IP address of the PC in the same network segment as the management IP of the wireless router. To this end, the author changed the address of his laptop network card to 192.168.1.232, the subnet mask can be used by default, and the gateway does not need to be set. At present, most wireless routers only support Web page configuration, and do not support configuration modes such as Telnet.
In the browser, enter the management IP of the wireless router, the desktop will pop up a login interface, after entering the username and password, we will enter the configuration interface of the wireless router.
After entering the configuration interface of the wireless router, a “Setup Wizard” will pop up automatically. In the Setup Wizard, the system only provides settings for the WAN port. Users are advised to ignore the "Setup Wizard" and go directly to the "Network Parameter Settings" option.
In the network parameter setting of the wireless router, the parameters of the two interfaces of the LAN port and the WAN port must be set. In practical applications, many users only set the WAN port, and the LAN port settings maintain the default state of the wireless router.
To keep your wireless router working efficiently and steadily,In addition to making the necessary settings for the wireless router, the necessary security precautions must be taken. The purpose of the user to purchase a wireless router is to facilitate himself. If the wireless router is an open network access point, other users can share it. In this case, will the user's network speed be stable? For the security of the wireless router, the user must clear the default LAN settings of the wireless router.
The author's TP-LINKWR641G wireless router, the default LAN port address is 192.168.1.1, in order to prevent others from invading, I changed the LAN address to 192.168.1.254, the subnet mask does not change. After the LAN port address is set, click “Save” and the restart dialog box will pop up.
After configuring the information about the LAN port, configure the WAN port. Before configuring the WAN port, you must first understand the type of access that your broadband belongs to, fixed IP, dynamic IP, PPPoE virtual dial-up, PPTP, L2TP, 802.1X+ dynamic IP, or 802.1X+ static IP. I use a fixed IP ADSL broadband, for this purpose,Select "Static IP" for the WAN port connection type, and then fill in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server address.
