Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor fully demonstrated its performance, so it decided to abandon its own Exynos processor and switch to Qualcomm's processor.

According to the Korean media "BusinessKorea" report,Samsung's first folding mobile phone, the Galaxy Fold, will abandon its own R&D Exynos 9820 processor and switch to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor because Samsung's Exynos 9820 processor is built with its own modified 8nm process from 10nm process. The higher-through Tonglong 855 processor is built by TSMC's 7-nanometer process. The upgrade of the half-node of the 8-nanometer process is still difficult to compare with the full-node upgrade of TSMC's 7-nanometer process. Therefore, with the Samsung Galaxy Fold selling for as much as $1,980, it is not possible to fully exploit its performance, making it difficult for consumers to accept.

In addition, according to the performance test of the mobile processor conducted by the foreign professional test website "Anandtech", Samsung's Exynos 9820 processor scored far lower than Qualcomm's Opteron 855 processor and Huawei's Kirin 980 processor. Among them, both Qualcomm and Huawei's mobile processors are Built by TSMC's 7-nanometer process, its performance is high.

In addition to the performance of the processor, the Samsung Galaxy Fold folding phone uses Qualcomm The Dragon 855 processor also has its marketing factors. The report further pointed out that in order to cater to the sales of Galaxy Fold in the US market, Qualcomm solution is considered to be the most suitable for the US carrier Verizon to launch the 5G network. The solution will enable the Galaxy Fold to perform at its best.

In fact, South Korean manufacturers attach great importance to the sales situation in the US market, so in addition to Samsung, including LG will also delay the launch of 5G mobile phones until 2019 In May, in line with the 5G network of telecoms Verizon.

Finally, the report also pointed out that because Samsung has positioned the Galaxy Fold folding phone as an experimental product, its internal parts are not integrated at home, so A large number of products from other manufacturers are used.

In addition to the processor will use Qualcomm's Opteron processor, even the camera's image sensor is not a Samsung product. Instead, use Sony's image sensor sensor. Therefore, Samsung only estimates that the sales of Galaxy Fold folding phones will be only 1 million in 2019.It is a far cry from the sales of the Galaxy S10 launched at the same time.
